A client of Robert Half, is seeking a Payroll Administrator with the capability to administer the production of accurate and timely payroll for employees, communicate effectively, and deliver strong internal customer service while working in a deadline-driven environment. Key responsibilities
– Pool resources with Human Resources, Information Technology, and other internal business partners to ensure security protocols for pay systems
– Process and input payroll information for both hourly and salaried employees and for union and non-union employees
– Oversee regular payroll reporting as required and assist with financial audits related to pay records and associated general ledger
– Handle voluntary deductions, as well as wage garnishments, pay levies, and other involuntary court-ordered payments in a timely manner, including reporting to the necessary authorities
– Check data entered by others in the payroll software to include, but not limited to salary/wage increases, benefit deductions, employee termination dates, and employee leaves of absence
– Guide staff with pay related issues, general questions related to payroll, PTO accruals, wage deductions, and fringe benefits
– Organize quarterly and year-end payroll reports
– Aim for timely processing of payroll in accordance with labor regulations and standard accounting principles
– Comply with current payroll tax requirements and relevant laws associated with the processing of employee wage data, including payroll taxes, employee income and tax deductions and other required reporting
– Need to have practical experience in an HRIS system and high proficiency with spreadsheets
– Enrolled in PCP program with National Payroll Institute is preferred
– 1+ years of payroll experience
– Weekly Payroll experience highly desired
– Proven knowledge of payroll reconciliation
– Strong data entry skills with emphasis on accuracy is required
– Strong familiarity with payroll for up to 500 employees
– Practical experience of Microsoft Excel including Pivot table, VLookups and formulas is required
– Well-founded grasp of year end including T4
– Canadian Payroll experience and multi-province is an asset
– Foundational knowledge in union payroll
