Our client is on the hunt for a dynamic and driven Corporate Accounting Manager to lead their financial team. If you’re a master of corporate accounting, a natural leader, and a process improvement guru, then this is the role for you!
Role
- Completion of accurate and timely monthly financial statements for multiple legal entities and provide variance analyses to support reporting and decision making
- Manage the daily operations of the corporate accounting department and oversee the AP department.
- Development and maintenance of accounting processes and records
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts, applying technical knowledge and judgement to ensure accuracy of accounts and timely resolution of reconciliation
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reports and coordinate with other departments for necessary information and reconciliations
- Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory bodies during audits and examinations
- Identify opportunities to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the corporate accounting function and implement best practices and automation to streamline processes
- Lead special projects as assigned by management, providing financial expertise and analysis as needed
- Act as a liaison with IT, Operations and other corporate departments on various projects, initiatives and process improvements impacting the department as assigned
Responsibilities
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA (CGA or CMA) certification preferred
- 7+ years proven experience in corporate accounting, with a focus on financial reporting and compliance
- Strong knowledge of ASPE and other relevant accounting principles and procedures
- Ethical behaviour and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Excellent leadership and team management skills
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset with a demonstrated ability to drive business, add value and bring new ideas to management
- Compelling appetite for success and eagerness to take on new things
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
- Excellent documentation and organizational skills
- Excellent initiative and issue resolution skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and independent problem-solving abilities in all work areas
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., D365) is an asset
