Rosenau Transport Ltd is currently recruiting for an experience Safety & Training Manager for a role in our Edmonton Corporate Office. The ideal candidate will have 5 years safety management experience with 5 years in Transportation & Logistics Industries and familiar with National Safety Code.
The Safety & Training Manager is a safety sensitive position that is primarily tasked with supporting the Director of Safety & Training in the development, execution, administration and promotion of Rosenau Transport Ltd.’s Health and Safety policies and Training Programs.
Organizational Status
This position will provide support for the management of the Rosenau Transport Safety & Training Department to foster a continuous improvement culture focused on process, occupational health and safety, culminating in the daily delivery of Operational Excellence. The successful candidate will have professional communication capabilities and comfort engaging with all levels of the company as comfortable working in an office or field environment. The Safety Department consists of the Director of Safety & Training, Safety Manager, Safety Advisors (indirect) and Safety Administrator.
Work Performed
· Conducts formal and informal site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, standards, company expectations, laws, and regulations;
· Reviews incident reports immediately and responds as necessary to ensure incidents are managed effectively and as required;
· Supporting incident investigation process facilitating root cause analysis and ensuring meaningful and effective corrective measures are identified;
· Provides training and support for implementation of corrective action plans from incident investigations and/or audits;
· Support the operational requirements and behavior based coaching around ELD based Hours of Service systems and telemetrics fleet management
· Assist in the development, administration and promotion of the company’s Health and Safety policies and programs and training content;
· Evaluates work procedures and work sites to identify potential hazards and appropriate mitigation;
· Documents findings and makes recommendations for risk mitigation and controls;
· Conducts follow-up to ensure controls have been successfully implemented.;
· Assists in the development of policies, standards, and practices for management review.
· Advises managers and employees about safe work procedures, safety standards and regulatory requirements;
· Assists in the development and delivers training sessions to build knowledge, skills and competencies to allow workers to meet their responsibilities and ensure competencies;
· Provides input into the company Health and Safety Program and related manuals to ensure that it reflects current legislation, industry trends, and corporate initiatives;
· Acts as a safety and training resource to all management and staff;
· Sources health and safety material, information and services as required;
· Responds to all inquiries from management and employees on health and safety matters, and provides guidance, support, assistance as required;
· Understands, adheres to and supports all company Health & Safety policies and procedures to ensure the safety of themselves and others;
· Collaborate with workers, supervision and management as required to effectively administer the Health and Safety program throughout the organization;
· Supporting client compliance initiatives including ISNetWorld, Avetta and ComplyWorks
· Actively promote and demonstrate a “Safety First” attitude;
· Performs other duties as required;
Education/Work Experience
· Minimum of 3 years involved in transportation or logistics industries in a safety or training capacity;
· 5+ years in an Occupational Health and Safety role;
· CRSP, CTSP, CTSC, NCSO designation, Occupational Health and Safety Certificate, or Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution;
· Experienced in auditing work sites, incident investigation and root cause analysis
· Experience and certification in adult in class instruction/training;
Skills
· Excellent communication and negotiation skills both verbal and written;
· Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite;
· Experience in professional writing of procedures, policies, safety training
material and reporting;
· Classroom and field instruction and Adult Education delivery and development
· Functional working knowledge of National Safety Code (NSC), Canadian Labour Code
