Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH), located in Barrie, Ontario, Canada, has a long, proud history of caring for the region, tracing its roots back to 1891 when the first Barrie General Hospital opened with just four beds. In 1897 the renamed Royal Victoria Hospital opened and since then the city and the hospital have shared a story of incredible growth and a dynamic vision for the future. In 2012 we opened our $450 million expansion that doubled the size of the building. Today, we are well underway with our ambitious plan to transform healthcare in the region with an integrated two-campus model, including doubling the size of the current facility and developing a new South Campus in Innisfil.

Reporting to the President & CEO, the Vice President, People Experience and Chief Human Resources Officer (VP & CHRO), is an important member of the Executive and Senior Leadership Teams (ELT & SLT). The VP & CHRO will integrate organizational strategy into People programs, policies, initiatives, and processes for the portfolio to fulfil business objectives, drawing on substantial expertise in HR Management and Labour Relations, and knowledge of related business and industry practice. In addition to executing on the People Experience Strategy at RVH, the VP & CHRO will provide direction and leadership for all aspects of the organization’s structure, talent acquisition, people analytics & workforce optimization, employee relations, people engagement and retention, recognition strategy, DEIB (diversity, equity, inclusion & belonging), occupational health/wellness & workplace safety, security/emergency management & locating, scheduling/timekeeping & payroll, organizational development, and volunteer resources.
Possessing exceptional personal integrity and ethics, and outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, the VP & CHRO will bring 15+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources Management or a related field, and/or 5+ years of experience in a senior-level or executive leadership role, ideally in the healthcare sector. With demonstrated expertise in talent and leadership management, background in implementing organization-wide change, and knowledge of all HR functions, employment laws and regulatory systems and requirements, the successful candidate will strengthen relationships/partnerships, continue to evolve a positive workplace culture, build teams and inspire others, and display effective conflict resolution skills. A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Organizational Development or other related field, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field and equivalent years of experience, and a professional certification in Human Resources, is required.
