What you will do:
As the needs of the company grow, our finance team is looking for a General Accountant – Accounts Payables that will report to our Toronto office. What we are looking for is someone eager to learn and be adaptive to the constantly shifting landscape of a fast-growing company. This position is primarily focused on accounts payable processes as well as the following responsibilities:
- Managing accounts payable in QuickBooks for multiple business entities
- Managing and coordinating intercompany transactions
- Maintaining an accounts payable aging report to ensure vendors are paid in a timely manner
- Coordinating and proposing weekly vendor payments
- Accounts payable process cycle including invoice review and processing, credit card reconciliation and expense compliance
- Adhere to month end close procedures which include preparing monthly balance sheet schedules and reconciliation to general ledger, subledgers, accrued liabilities, prepaid and non-current assets
- Responsible for meeting with business leads to ensure accuracy in monthly reporting
- Assist in establishing, upholding, and reviewing financial controls and guidelines
- Assist in the annual audit process by providing required documents to external auditors
- Comply with administering payments and reports for local, state, and federal taxes
- Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in Business/Finance/Accounting from University/College
- Working towards an accounting designation (CPA) considered an asset
- 2+ years of experience in accounting or financial management
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Online considered an asset
- Firm understanding of various payment methods (Wire payments, ACH/EFT, other third-party services such as PayPal)
- Technical competence using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Highly motivated and detail oriented
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Experience working with media and/or technology infrastructure companies a bonus
- A proven record of contributions made to process improvements
