Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre requires continuing, full-time Academic Advisor. This position will be located in one of our regional campuses based on space availability and the principal residence of the successful candidate . This is a continuing contract position at 8 hours per day based on the school calendar of Sask DLC and is a 10-month academic-year position (summer months of July and August are excluded). The position will commence on June 12, 2024 at the campus location for the successful candidate. This is not a remote or virtual work from home assignment.
Sask DLC is a newly formed Treasury Board Crown Corporation in Saskatchewan, created to deliver high-quality and equitable online learning programs to students across the province. Sask DLC’s head office is located in Kenaston, with an administrative office in Regina, and nine regional campuses located in Swift Current, Moose Jaw, Estevan, Yorkton, Saskatoon, Nipawin, Prince Albert, Neilburg and La Ronge. Sask DLC delivers online programming to full-time K-12 students and part-time students attending schools across the province.
The Academic Advisor will report directly to the Campus Principal and subsequent staff at the campus site within their assigned space.

As an Academic Advisor, you will work with students and staff in an online environment. We are looking to recruit individuals who seek to understand the challenges of online learning and strive to create real connections with our learners and staff, bridging the distance between them.
Academic Advisor Role Or Duties Include
Contacting and enrolling full-time online students into courses, maintaining student graduation plan data to meet Ministry of Education requirements as well as incorporate courses for admission requirements to post -secondary programs;
Reviewing transcripts and creating student graduation plans, including monitoring and adjusting student plans throughout the year as needed;
Maintaining accurate data in our DLCgo system as well as supporting Excel spreadsheets that track student’s graduation status;
Unique to this Academic Advisor Position, you will work in the application Embark to review transcripts, create graduation plans and assign Academic Advisors to students as registrations come in;
Maintaining up-to date information with Ministry of Education changes regarding graduation requirements;
Having knowledge and understanding of courses offered and different programs (regular, French immersion, Adult 12 and graduated students) and requirements;
Having the ability to navigate post-secondary websites to assist students in course planning;
Updating student graduation plans in the summer after final courses are completed and transcripts are updated;
Working with Student Support Teachers to assist in Grade 9 -10 Transition Plans;
Updating parents and students of new programs available to students;
Providing assistance to students as needed during the summer to update graduation plans once courses are completed, including Summer School.

Salary (Year 1: $24.00/hr to Year 4: $26.23/hr) and benefits for this position will be in accordance with the negotiated Collective Agreement with C.U.P.E. 4802.
