Elementary / Learning Support Teacher – Denetia
(Full Time, Term – Ending June 13th, 2024 – With Possibility of Extension)
This position is eligible for a pro-rated $5000.00 hiring incentive

We Welcome Teachers Who Are Student-centered And Have
Bachelor of Education certificate.
Successful experience with Indigenized Curriculum, as well as First Nations Language and Culture.
Demonstrated understanding and respect for Indigenous learning and learners, as well as knowledge of the Kaska Nation (preferred).
Experience engaging students outside the classroom; on-the-land learning.
A team player committed to the belief that all students can learn.
The ability to connect with students in trusting and supportive ways, clarify problems and challenges, and restore harmony and respect.
Experience with Trauma Informed Practice.
Excellent teaching, planning, and assessment skills.
Ability and commitment to work and engage collaboratively with students, staff, parents, guardians, and community.
Demonstrated success utilizing varied instructional strategies and differentiated instruction.
Commitment to on-going professional growth.
Willingness to support extra-curricular activities.
School District 87 offers the highest salaries in the province; a relocation allowance upon arrival, annual personal travel allowances for employee and dependents living with them, a substantial professional development package and an excellent benefit package (100% medical, extended health, dental and group health insurance). In summary:
This position includes a $5000.00 additional incentive (pro-rated to letter of hire date):
Hiring incentive of $3000.00 payable as a lump sum on your first pay cheque; and
Retention incentive of $2000.00 , payable as a lump sum on your last pay cheque of 2024.
Competitive Salary ($69,679-$116,221 )
Moving Relocation Allowance: $2,164.17
Recruitment and Retention Allowance: $2,947
Isolation Allowance: $1508.04
Travel Allowance: $2207.46
We also provide modern furnished and unfurnished accommodation (no sharing required) at a reasonable rate ($550-$650 per month).
Lower Post is home to the Kaska Nation, and you will have the privilege to learn about Kaska culture and traditions. The Stikine region is characterized by rugged natural beauty. There are many places to explore and experience adventures within Kaska Territory. Most residents go fishing, hiking, snowshoeing, canoeing, kayaking, snowmobiling, hunting, quadding, boating, skiing, mountain biking, and much more. Lower Post is the perfect place for the outdoor enthusiast and offers a family-oriented lifestyle with very affordable living.
