The team:
Scotiabank’sGlobal Network Engineering – Design & Automationteam is responsible for maintaining the software and hardware standards for network, enterprise telephony and contact center technologies. Working closely with the architecture team, we are engaged in developing the platform roadmaps, participate in the Proof of Concept (POC) and responsible for the production pilot of new technologies. We provide the solution designs and work closely with all global regions to maintain common strategies and service methodologies. The team is engaged in all major projects and complex initiatives providing technical oversight and guidance to ensures all standards and patterns are followed.
The role:
Reporting to a Senior Manager, Global Network Engineering – Design & Automation, you will play a critical part in helping the team to design, deploy & support the various technologies within our Global Network.
When required, you will be a part of after-hours deployments or addressing major incidents in the evenings or weekends.

You are eager to work with leading edge technologies to incorporate complex network solutions, as well as work with other technology teams to contribute to an overall solution. This will include performing new network product evaluation (i.e., POC), and producing reports & recommendations independently.
You are adept at developing network solution architecture standard documents or network technology roadmaps & seeking their respective approval(s).
You embrace the opportunity to lead, review & consult on solutions & designs for assigned tasks; plus provide recommendations for enhancements & improvements; as well as design, test, implement and troubleshoot for large scale Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) environment.
You are keen to act as a consultant and subject matter expert for Global Network Services, and its support teams to resolve technical deployment obstacles and improve network services.
You take a comprehensive approach to fully understand Global Networks operation issues & customer challenges, plus advocate for their needs with cross-functional teams like architecture, application, and operation teams.
You are prepared to mentor & coach others by transferring subject matter expertise.
You thrive on being hands-on during mid to complex project deployments into production. This will include the support of assigned systems by acting as an internal consultant on assigned infrastructure and providing suggestions for viable solutions to systems problems of high complexity.
You excel at publishing standards, bug reviews & best practices.
You expect to manage vendor relationships in the best interest of Scotiabank.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role?
You have strong communication (verbal/written/presentation) skills in English & the same in Spanish would be an asset.
You can demonstrate good interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal stakeholders/partners and with external business partners/vendors.
You have at least 5+ years of hands-on technical working experience with solutions design & planning of various network technologies at an enterprise scale.
You can demonstrate progressive hands-on technical working experience in network environments of at least 500 network devices spanning multiple geographical locations across a country or countries.
You have at least 8+ years of progressive hands-on technical working experience in supporting, deploying & solutioning with various Cisco, Fortinet, F5 at an enterprise level:
Cisco® Routing & Switching (Arista Networks is nice to have)
Nexus N9K/N7K/N5K/N2K Solutions
Cisco® ISR (Integrated Services Routers), ASR (Aggregation Services Routers), Catalyst 8000 Routers
Catalyst N9K
Routing protocols: BGP, OSPF
Cisco® Security/VPN
Fortinet
F5 LTM (BIG-IP® Local Traffic Manager)/GTM (BIG-IP® Global Traffic Manager™)
You have hands on technical working experience with Cisco ® Application Centric Infrastructure (Cisco ACI™) and/or VMware NSX and/or similar software defined technologies in a data centre.
You have at least 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience, in a network related capacity, with various Public Cloud (Azure & GCP preferred) environments.
You have at least 2+ years of hands-on technical working experience with Zscaler & SD-WAN.
You can demonstrate a strong technical working knowledge of Cisco® ISE (Identity Services Engine) & Wireless Network.
You can demonstrate superior problem solving and decision-making skills to resolve work issues with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
You possess a strong core foundation experience in fundamental network technologies and protocols.
Completion of a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering Networking Technology, or in a related technology field.
