Position: Short Order Cook/Helper
Location: West Ottawa
Hours: Day shift from 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Night shift from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Salary: $25.21 per hour
Days of work: Monday to Friday (must be available to work 1 weekend a month)
Job Type: Temporary long-term contract

Requirements:
– Reliability clearance or ability/willingness to obtain one
– 3-5 years experience as a cook/short order cook preferred
– Experience working in a large, high-volume kitchen an asset
– Access to a vehicle (location not easily accessible by transit)
– Ability to speak, read and write in English
Job Description:
– Perform short order cooking
– Prepare food items including hot/cold sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers, omelettes and bacon/sausages
– Assist in preparing stocks, soups, sauces and gravies
– Prepare packaged food products, such as dispersed meals, take-out meals, sandwiches, bar items and box lunches
– Prepare salad and buffet items for daily meal production and official functions
– Wash, peel, trim, chop, cut vegetables/fruits and meats
– Prepare and arrange salads, meat/cheese, relish and pickle trays, weigh and measure ingredients as well as arranging salads and garnishes
– Prepare and set-up sandwich bar according to established recipes
– Assist in preparation of bakery items
– Assist with the preparation/cooking of a variety of food items according to specific instructions and established recipes
– Clean and disinfect work surfaces equipment, tools and utensils, floors and dining areas
– Receive and store supplies
– Operate cash registers/Point of Sale Terminals
