What will you do?
Siemens Canada is looking for a motivated and self-driven recent graduate with Internal Controls experience to help us support our internal control system in Canada, as well as help create and drive tasks within our Risk and Internal Control (RIC) function, which has a responsibility of establishing an Internal Control environment in accordance with Siemens Risk and Internal Control (RIC) methodology.
The Internal Controls Analyst is an opportunity for a new fresh graduate. The selected candidate will be responsible for ensuring the company maintains strong internal controls and good governance practices through an effective RIC program. This position will contribute to the planning, documenting, reviewing, assessing, and remediating the internal control framework in accordance with the COSO framework of internal controls. In this rol,e you will be working not only on regional internal control topics relating to the Assurance function within Canada but also be a business partner for internal controls over financial reporting topics within some businesses of Siemens Canada. The right candidate will be reporting into the Head of RIC in Canada.
Support the Head of RIC in managing and driving the internal controls system for select business units and support functions for Siemens Canada, including the proper documentation and assessment of those controls.
Conduct and develop continuous improvement for internal control processes, focusing on increasing efficiency while maintaining or increasing the overall level of assurance.
Support establishing effective policies, procedures, processes and controls necessary to be compliant with the RIC program
Support to facilitate and drive the remediation of internal control weaknesses with multiple stakeholders (support function heads, business units and other process owners) with a strong focus on a timely but also sustainable remediation thereof.
Support local businesses with the development general principles / methodology / assessment approach for ICFR relevant Controls to be incorporated into Siemens RIC Manual and Policy Control and Master Book (PCMB), outsourcing, workshops/trainings
Carry out impact analyses of ineffective key controls regarding their relevance for Entity Reporting and guidance on the formulation of remediation measures and monitoring their correct and timely implementation
Support in IT Special Topics (e.g. Smart Close/Runbook/Robot Process Automation/Cloud Solutions)
What will you need to succeed?
Graduated from post-secondary within the last 12 months, preferably in Finance, Accounting or related field. Above average study performance (Accumulative average > 2.5 (B-)). Transcripts to be provided upon request.
Demonstrated leadership or initiative at school, work and/or community (extra curricular activities)
Collaborative with an ability to cultivate relationships and networks
Experience in an internal controls’ environment and either accounting, IT or audit role
Ability to program macros (or other tools), automate processes through tools and have knowledge of SAP ERP system
Excellent written and oral communication skills, including proven ability to prepare and present information to all management levels.
Collaborative with an ability to build strong partnerships with teammates, key stakeholders, and business and functional experts and influence decision outcomes
Solid understanding of internal controls and internal audit practices. Comprehensive understanding of financial accounting.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments, achieve deadlines and deliver quality results within a team environment
