Established in 1976 the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has been conferred authority to grant certificates and diplomas. SIIT welcomes over 2400 students into our urban and community programs annually as well as serving over 6000 clients through our nine Career Centres across the province. The Entrepreneurship Education Assistant is a professional coach and mentor who guides adult learners through running a small business. The role involves motivating adult learners and aspiring entrepreneurs, implementing strategies that will help grow an SIIT merchandise pop-up shop from the ground up. Working collaboratively with a team of educational professionals, the Entrepreneurship Educational Assistant will demonstrate a strong commitment to create and maintain a creative and positive learning environment at SIIT. These include some of the following broad areas of accountability:
- Help students produce a business and marketing plan
- Show students how to conduct engaging presentation
- Teach the students how to balance positive cash flow and maintain accounts
- Respect, honour and acknowledge the uniqueness of each student including: their unique languages, cultures, traditions, histories and prior learning and life experiences
- Create and maintain a positive learning environment that provides the opportunity for meaningful learning and academic progress
- Assess students strengths and weaknesses and guide development
- Adhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and procedures
- Communicate with students to better understand their vision and goals
