Some Of What You Will Do

The individual plays a critical role in streamlining the financial close and reporting for internal and external stakeholders. The individual will collaborate with Finance leaders across the team to determine their needs pertaining to the financial close and reporting processes and create solutions to meet their objectives.

Specifically, You Will

• Design and build automated customized standard and ad-hoc financial reports and dashboards for internal and external reporting purposes for the Finance team
• Identify and document requirements of the Finance team and seek solutions within the system
• Identify opportunities for automation for the Finance team
• Collaborate with IT and Enterprise Analytics to establish data access infrastructure in Power BI or equivalent financial data management/reporting/analytics tools from various data sources (e.g. ERP system, inventory management software, etc.)
• Responsible for financial data maintenance, including chart of accounts and various accounting and financial reporting hierarchies in Power BI or equivalent
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to stay current with new capabilities and data sources within our financial systems
• Develop new techniques and innovative approaches to enhance ERP system functionality and automate business processes
• Analyze month end close and reporting processes to identify opportunities for improvement to drive efficiency and effectiveness. Review existing reports and look for ways to simplify, modify, or consolidate them as required
• Monitor automated systems and solutions, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial reports
• Create and maintain documentation of the system processes
• Train and support team members on the use of automated tools and systems
• Participate in projects to provide functional expertise and recommendations
• Participate in projects for upgrade rollouts and system implementation(s), including requirements gathering, user acceptance testing, etc.

Some Of What You Need

• University degree or equivalent in accounting, business, finance, technology or a related field
• Certifications in data visualization tools and software (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.) an asset
• Strong knowledge and understanding of ERP and other financial systems including general ledger and legal entity hierarchy and structures
• Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles, including financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
• Solid knowledge of business processes related to finance and accounting
• Resourceful and strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues independently
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage competing priorities
• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment
• Ability to work independently, anticipate work needs and follow through with minimum direction
• A commitment to improvement, providing and implementing recommendations
• Aptitude and desire to grow within the Finance team
• Minimum 3 years of finance system support or related experience is required
• High proficiency in data analysis using tools such as Microsoft Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools and software (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, Essbase, etc.)
• Minimum 3 years of experience with automation tools and programming languages (e.g. Alteryx, Knime, Python, SQL, etc.)
• Oracle E-Business Suite or equivalent is a must-have asset
• Oracle Developer is a must-have asset
