This role helps to deliver on the above vision for Starbucks Canada Talent Acquisition and contributes to the success of the company by developing, implementing and leading hiring strategies to identify high-quality, diverse candidates for jobs up to and including director level. The role also supports a team of direct reports by providing leadership, consultation, training and expertise for talent acquisition specialists supporting retail hiring, while driving team performance with a focus on the candidate experience and process improvements.
As a talent acquisition lead, Retail Management you will:
Professional Expertise
Champion inclusion and diversity in the recruitment process to drive team results
Execute full-cycle recruitment within a retail portfolio by partnering with assigned hiring managers inclusive of regional vice-presidents
Apply a high level of strategic thought-partnership and influence; support a wide variety of client groups across multiple assignments, functions, and profiles
Drive hiring processes and help your team achieve results by developing, influencing, driving and leading accountability among talent acquisition specialists and the business for recruitment strategies and initiatives
Leverage and influence talent acquisition performance metrics to set and achieve goals, hold self, team and hiring managers accountable, improve effectiveness, and drive strategic planning
Consistently utilize, champion, and identify improvements for existing support tools and platforms for increased candidate engagement
Leverage deep recruiting expertise to execute and mentor, including sourcing, market mapping, strategy building and execution
Lead and drive fiscal year forecasting for retail hiring, working with talent acquisition, retail leadership, partner (human) resources and finance to check and adjust throughout the year
Business Acumen & Problem Solving
Apply an in-depth understanding of the business environment, industry strategies, organizational structures and compensation practices in order to construct business cases for proposed solutions
Consult with hiring managers on recruitment and interview processes, current and future openings, workforce planning and the future state of the organization
Create an effective candidate network using technology and other measures to find new candidates
Create and implement new passive recruitment strategies to ensure that Starbucks attracts and retains high-quality, diverse candidates. Identify, develop and execute effective passive sourcing options
Create and lead special projects and initiatives that affect a function or the enterprise
Prioritizing & Planning
Set strategic goals for the team in order to develop organizational capability, and model how we work together
Identify and communicate key responsibilities and practices to ensure the immediate team of direct reports promotes a culture of recruiting, confidence in leadership, and teamwork to achieve business results
Work with Talent Acquisition leadership team to provide consistent and effective support of the interview process and other key areas of responsibilities as assigned
Ensure that the interview process complies with Starbucks policies and procedures and with employment laws and regulations
Communicate and educate client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization
Work cross functionally with partnering business units as the subject matter expert
Lead in establishing processes, procedures and policies by continually identifying and implementing process improvements that increase productivity, accuracy and eliminate redundancy
Participate in formulating future goals and support the vision and strategic priorities of the department as it relates to effectively delivering programs and customer service
Assist with the assessment and analysis of overall effectiveness of contact center systems and hardware to ensure optimum performance of all applications

Inspire and challenge direct and indirect reports to Achieve Results, Help Others Succeed and Live Our Mission and Values
Conduct and ensure the completion of quarterly performance and development conversations, as well as end of year Rewards Conversations
Ensure partners adhere to legal and operational compliance requirements
Lead, coach, develop and mentor talent acquisition team members
Oversee training and development of partners directly and indirectly managed and make effective hiring decisions
Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to team members in order to achieve personal, team and business results
The experience that will be best aligned for finding success in this role will include:
5 or more years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, human resources, or other related fields
4 or more years of experience in high growth, fast-paced environments; experience within a North American or Global business as an asset
3 or more years of experience with senior level (director+) and complex recruitment searches
2 or more years of building and leading teams of 5+ direct reports; experience leading direct reports in a talent acquisition environment as an asset
bilingual fluency in both French and English as an asset
