Job Responsibilities

• Develop driver daily schedules
• Coach Project Superintendents to schedule their daily needs
• Assure that driver’s Bill of Ladings are completed each day
• Monitor driver logs to assure that drivers are conforming to the “hours of service” guidelines
• Verify each driver’s license and ensure tickets are current
• Assure that driver’s logs are being completed correctly
• Be aware of necessary truck and trailer mechanical issues and work with the maintenance department to have repairs completed as soon as possible
• Provide solutions to delivery changes, delays, or mistakes in a quick and efficient manner
• Arrange single trip dimensional and overweight permits
• Arrange term permits in all provinces that we are currently working in
• Complete driver’s annual competency reviews
• Complete competency assessments of all new drivers prior to employment
• Assure that all transport equipment is maintained as per maintenance schedules
• Maintain up to date records of drivers logs, driver training files, equipment inspections, repairs, and maintenance
• Development, implementation and monitoring of safe work policies, procedures, and practices relating to commercial transport
• Keep equipment board up to date as equipment moves take place throughout the day
• Monitor compliance with company policies regarding pre-trip inspections, emergency equipment, and cleanliness
• Review and monitor Carrier Profile(s)
• Keep an up to date load journal of all loads
• Coordinate training schedules, develop mutual support training objectives, capture, and report training observations, insights, and lessons learned for new drivers
• Assure that all incidents are reported as soon as possible to the Management Team and the Safety Department
• Before a driver is hired, it is the responsibility of the hiring supervisor/dispatcher to ensure that they are qualified to drive the required vehicles
• Coach and mentor drivers in the completion of pre-trip inspections, daily logs, and other company documentation

Promote positive driver attitude by:

• Distributing the workload fairly, based on demand, and the capability, availability, and seniority of drivers
• Assigning trips in accordance with company policies and procedures as they relate to applicable government standards
• Transferring complete information to the drivers regarding all details about each trip to ensure the drivers do not encounter unfamiliar facilities, routes, or procedures which could lead to incidents or product claims
• Passing on credit to drivers when applicable, for commendable service or work performance

Promote good client relations by:

• Treating clients in a friendly and businesslike manner
• Keeping adequately informed about trip details to inform the client of any unexpected circumstances that could affect the completion of the trip as scheduled

Qualifications & Experience

• 5+ years trucking experience
• 5+ years dispatch and/or management experience
• Class 1 Driver
  Permit (annual and single load) experience
• Maintenance and record keeping experience
