Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation – SMBC Group Looking for Operations Administrator at Toronto, Ontario, Canada Full Time

This position is responsible for performing a variety of administrative activities relating to the timely preparation of payments, outward remittances and processing of inward remittances. This position is also responsible for processing all NMFI debits and credits, cheque deposits and cheque clearing transactions through PROFILE. This position works with Accounts Payable in processing of transactions through the preparation of cheques or EFT payments in ORACLE Accounts Payable, Foreign Exchange and Money Market in FOX, OBS and Montran.

Key Accountabilities

SWIFT/MONTRAN

• Prepare payments in Montran and SWIFT.
• Review incoming messages in Montran and make necessary repairs
• Monitor transactions in Montran and SWIFT for daily balancing.
• Coordinate with Credit Administration and Treasury to balance customer’s daily transactions to ensure sufficient funds are available.
• Process SWIFT transactions in SAA
• Monitor E-MONEYGER system for payment applications and update Templates

FOX/OBS

• Verify details of Foreign Exchange and Money Market transactions and book trades in FOX and OBS.
• Monitors the daily cash reconciliation between Treasury and the G/L in order to rectify any outstanding item(s).
• Process BDN’s, T.Bills, and Reverse Repos

PROFILE

• Perform all operational activities relating to daily entries and month end rate entries
• Responsible for the CED (Capital Equivalent Deposit) rate process.
• Update CORRA rates
• Process all NMFI debit and credit transactions and daily cheque clearing in PROFILE – answer queries requested by compliance
• Deposit and process all cheque deposits in CHECKPRO (RBC express)
• Enter Stop Payments, holds and return items in Customer DDA accounts

COMFORT

• Update COMFORT with bank-to-bank deal confirmation related to foreign exchange and money market deals.

Others

• Responsible for the DTCC reporting process.
• Process and prepare cheques, EFTs and Clearing in ORACLE Accounts Payable
• Balance daily cash position and tally Nostro balances to the bank accounts
• Check the daily rate upload.
• Act as back-up in the absence of the other team members.
• Perform other tasks as required.

Qualifications And Skills

Knowledge: Experience on payment systems, Swift, foreign exchange and money markets, preferably with accounting knowledge.

Experience: 2 to 5 years of back-office (Operations) banking experience with exposure to Swift money market, foreign exchange, derivatives and commercial loans.

Skills: PC skills. Good oral and written communication skills.

Good understanding of Canadian Payments Association Rules, Sound knowledge of Swift and financial instruments.
