Job Description:
The Segregated Funds’ Financial Management (SFFM) team within Group Retirement Services Finance is responsible for the daily valuation, accounting control, and financial reporting for over 500 Segregated Funds. This Manager leads a small team and is primarily responsible for ensuring the plan member cash activity is communicated to the Fund Manager partners and settled appropriately. The Manager will report to the Director of SFFM.
What will you do?
Lead and oversee the daily processes involved with trading and settlement of underlying pooled/mutual fund units on behalf of the segregated funds
Liaise with Fund Managers and their custodian banking contacts for trading, cash settlement, reporting, and resolution of discrepancies
Manage the bank accounts through oversight and daily and monthly reconciliation
Liaise with other GRS Finance teams to ensure cash communication adjustments and other exceptions to the normal trade automation processes are handled properly within SFFM.
Responsible for ensuring appropriate controls are in place within the daily cash communication process
Identify, develop and implement process improvements
Ensure various daily and monthly reconciliations are completed in compliance with Company standards and guidelines
Responsible for the ongoing training and development of staff through documentation, training, mentoring and coaching
Assist the other SFFM teams as necessary (eg. fund on-boarding, reviewing the T3 memos and financial statements at year end, records retention, etc.)
Cultivate a positive and collaborative team environment
Note:
The Manager is required to begin work, or be available to support the morning trade communication process, starting at 7 am
What do you need to succeed?
Post-secondary education combined with investment finance or fund accounting experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to support and influence peers
Good PC skills (Excel, Word, Adobe, Outlook)
Strong analytical & problem solving skills with a high degree of attention to detail
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively while managing multiple tasks
Ability to adapt to multiple demands, shifting priorities and changes in business conditions
Assets:
Business knowledge and experience related to Mutual Funds and/or Segregated Funds Industry
Knowledge of PAM for Securities (PFS) and SAP software
Previous experience with Fundserv
