Suncor Looking for Trade Accounting – Analyst at Calgary, Alberta, Canada Full Time

Are you looking to put your accounting expertise to work on a collaborative team? You’ll prepare complex entries and reconciliations for trade accounting and provide analysis and insight to support middle office, internal and external financial reporting.

Minimum Requirements:

• Six years of relevant oil and gas experience
• A university degree in finance or accounting
• A professional designation CPA, CFA, with a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles
• Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Power BI and Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
• Working knowledge of database software (SAP, Prism, BEX, BW, Peoplesoft etc.)
• Knowledge in Commodity Trading and Risk Management (CTRM) systems
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven success in partnering with various business contacts
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail

Responsibilities:

• Execute the trading accounting month end cycle, including entries and analysis related to product costing, transportation, margins, account reconciliations, mid-to-back reconciliations
• Support monthly performance management reports for the Trading business areas and effectively communicate economic performance, strategies and drivers
• Develop and enhance custom Power BI reports around inventory, costing, revenue and COS for various stakeholders
• Coordinate with various stakeholders in front, mid and back office to ensure timely execution of month end process
• Identify continuous improvement opportunities
• Manage data gathering process for key accounting adjustments
• Assist with SAP S4 to support requirements for crude accounting and reporting
• Understand key business value drivers and performance metrics providing insight to the business

Location and other Key Details:

• You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 –6th Ave S.W.
• Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
• Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
