Sunrise Farms is a group of companies that has grown from an initial focus in the poultry industry including hatchery operations; poultry farming; primary processing; and further processing; to distribution of other protein products across Canada.
Our humble start was in 1983 with one small processing facility in Surrey, British Columbia. We have now grown to serve a broad range of customers, both domestically and internationally. Sunrise Farms remains Canadian family owned, producing quality food products from processing plants located in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario.

Job Description:
Currently our Head Office Team has an exciting opportunity available in our Finance and Accounting Department, as Sr. Financial Accountant. If you think you have the skills and experience that we are looking for, we look forward to hearing from you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual statements that are GAAP / ASPE compliant
- Investigate variances, summarize data and trends and prepare KPI’s for management review
- Provide provides financial advice by studying operational issues and applying financial principles
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for key accounts like prepaids, bank, inventory, intercompany and related / subsidiary company reconciliations etc.
- Ensure proper adherence to the existing tax and regulatory frameworks e.g. corporate tax instalments, self-assess and calculate PST, prepare and file GST and other government surcharges
- Assist in internal, statutory and other government audits by providing backups and collating information in the required format
- Improving systems and processes to improve efficiency and internal controls
- Adhoc projects as determined by the management
Qualifications:
- Accounting degree/diploma and CPA designation.
- Attention to detail, organization, and time-keeping skills
- Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Ability to think objectively and independently
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Experienced in MS Office products, Visio, Project, and ERP systems
