The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Communications Specialist to join us in making vacation dreams come true. As the Communications Specialist you will be responsible for writing and distributing trade and consumer-facing articles, press releases, internal announcements and content for web and print. The Communications Specialist also proofreads copy, is involved in planning editorial content, managing the company intranet, and supports the PR & Communications Manager and Communications Coordinators on other copywriting where needed. This role is responsible for producing accurate, compelling, and engaging copy across a multitude of channels and liaising with various parties both internally and externally for the purpose of content creation and fact-checking accuracy. What You’ll Do

• Support in the development and editing of company-wide newsletters, press releases, internal communications, brochures, flyers, and long-form editorial content, and distribute as required.
• Research and gather information from internal stakeholders and/or external sources to plan and write a variety of communications.
• Ensure all communications materials are written factually per Sunwing Vacations offerings and have proper grammar, spelling and adhere to the company’s Communications Style Guide
• Lead the brainstorming and development of future long-form content and audit the Style Guide to maintain relevancy.
• Content management of the company intranet is also required, with the support of the PR & Communications Manager and Communications Coordinators
• Write compelling, persuasive, and unique marketing and advertising copy that sells to help bring our products and services to life on our websites and on various channels.
• Liaise with internal and external parties to gather relevant information for the proper development of compelling short-form materials (web, email, social, in-app experience) that highlight the latest promotions, product offerings and communications, and write content for various publications as required.
• With the guidance of Senior Director, Corporate Communications & Media Relations, and PR & Communications Manager, take the lead on LinkedIn content strategy for both Sunwing Vacations Group and Sunwing Weddings, in addition to copy development with the support of the communications Coordinator.
• Understand, capture, and implement the voice of focused Sunwing Vacations Group brands, including Sunwing Vacations, WestJet Vacations, Selloff Vacations, Vacation Express and Luxe Destination Weddings. Additional support will be required for Sunwing Weddings, Blue Diamond Resorts and Nexus Tours.
• Work across all channels to produce high quality, engaging copy adhering to brand standards and style guide, matching a variety of tones to align with each brand.
• Proofread and edit a variety of Sunwing Vacations Group branded content for grammar, accuracy, and tone.

What You’ll Need

• Three or more years of experience as a copywriter or similar
• Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Media, PR or similar
• Outstanding writing and editing skills
• Ability to translate key messages into copy.
• Demonstrated ability to adapt writing style for different audiences.
• Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
• Focused on multitasking and meeting tight, often competing deadlines.
• Shows strong drive and takes initiative.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
