Supreme Steel LP is currently seeking a professional, detail-orientated, and highly efficient individual to join our Accounting team in the full time, hybrid, permanent position of Accountant at our office in Acheson, AB. Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Compliance, this accounting position will be responsible for the accurate and timely managing of financial transactions, preparing financial statements and ensuring accounting practices are in compliance with accounting and tax regulations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software and spreadsheets
  • Enters accounts receivable invoices and receipts
  • Maintains the fixed asset ledger and reconciliation
  • Maintains and reconciles the steel inventory in database
  • Updates monthly Journal entries as required and completes monthly account reconciliations
  • Prepares monthly reporting packages
  • Reconciles monthly sales and completes GST returns
  • Completes monthly PST returns
  • Supports month-end, quarter end, and year-end closes, collaborating with auditors during internal and external audits to provide necessary documentation and support.

 

Qualifications & Skills Required:

  • Diploma or BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or related field or extensive experience in an accounting role. 
  • 3 years+ overall experience in an Accountant role
  • Experience working in a construction and/or manufacturing environment considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of tax regulations and compliance
  •  Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  •  Effective communication and client/stakeholder relations
  •  Exhibits professional and ethical behavior when working with confidential financial documents
  •  Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  •  Analytical and problem-solving skills
