The opportunity
With TC Energy’s growth in meeting the demands for energy across North America, we are seeking a Manager, Compensation. Reporting to the Director of Total Rewards, the successful candidate will lead the compensation team in the design and implementation of base salary, incentive, allowance, and recognition programs across all lines of business and areas of the company including Canada, the United States and Mexico.
What You’ll Do
Lead a team of 6 direct reports to design and deliver compensation programs that meet business needs, legislative requirements and are aligned to market and the organization’s compensation philosophy.
Develop and manage repeatable, scalable processes to optimize the execution of daily and annual compensation programs and processes.
Cultivate and sustain partnerships with key stakeholders in other human resources functions as well as legal, accounting, and communications for the successful execution of compensation programs, processes and procedures.
Manage the development and creation of materials for board committee reporting and approvals.
Manage the content creation and reporting for the annual proxy circular disclosure according to legal requirements and best practices.
Develop, build and lead a team of skilled compensation professionals.
Role model leader behaviors aligned with our supportive and inclusive environment where team members can thrive.
Keep abreast of changes in legislation, trends, and market practice to ensure competitiveness and compliance of programs in all relevant markets.
Minimum Qualifications
In-depth knowledge of base salary, short term incentives, long-term incentives and allowance program designs and practices
An undergraduate degree with a minimum 10 years of progressive and diverse compensation experience in complex environments
Minimum of five years of people leadership experience, inclusive of accountability for setting priorities, managing performance and compensation
Experience developing and implementing compensation programs in large complex environments
Experience with the development of Board and/or Committee processes and materials
Analytical ability to assess information, discern key findings and develop recommendations
Results-driven orientation with an affinity for detail and accuracy
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skill
Assertive, decisive under pressure
Able to multi-task and balance competing priorities effectively in a fast-paced and demanding environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Workday would be an asset
Experience with Canadian pay equity legislation would be an asset
