About the Role
Teranet is currently looking for a Contract Senior Business Systems Analyst to work for one of our clients in the Capital Markets industry. Be the pivot between Teranet and our customers to ensure that the Catalyst™ product features are well understood and solutions for business/user requirements are documented and delivered by the product while working with the wider project team to ensure that commercial off-the-shelf products are successfully implemented and meet client needs.
What You’ll Be Doing
Business Systems Analysis
- Review and clarify the customer’s functional requirements to ensure they are sufficient for design or development to commence.
- Analyze existing workflows and processes, create process maps, and isolate areas of potential improvement.
- Develop solution designs that design and document desired outcomes of the system enhancement/development.
- Liaise with developers and testers to estimate the size of the project to determine the level of up-front design required.
- Support Development, System Testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure the enhancement/development meets the solution design.
- Work as a crucial component of a project team responsible for enhancing existing systems or developing new systems.
COTS Product Implementation
- Elicit and document requirements to adapt COTS products to satisfy customer needs.
- Identify and propose potential solutions to the client before escalating client requirements gaps to the COTS product team.
- Identify and communicate client requirements gaps to the COTS product team when there are no other viable solutions.
- Liaise with the COTS product team on required product enhancements.
- Configure the COTS product to implement customer requirements.
Project Support
- Take on the following responsibilities within the Scrum team:
o Managing stakeholder requirements, representing users for the system.
o Articulate requirements and set the acceptance criteria.
o Actively participate in sprint planning, refinement, review, retrospectives, and daily scrums.
o Participate in weekly sprint refinement sessions with relevant teams.
o Provide guidance and clarification when sought.
o Collaborate with the team in determining and selecting improvement actions.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders (customer, delivery, and product teams) during the project life cycle and be responsible for communication along with the Project Manager.
- Manage project documentation to keep them up-to-date during the project life cycle.
- Manage change requests to document ongoing changes to project scope and requirements.
- Where specification issues result in additional work as a result of client requests or variations ensure that variations are made and actioned accordingly.
- Assist development, customer, and project teams with testing and Quality Assurance activities.
- Deliver training to clients using one-on-one, group, classroom, and online techniques as required.
- Proactively seek feedback on training delivered and evaluate the performance of materials and integrate findings into future productions and improve on existing training materials and delivery methods.
- Provide post-training follow-up and product support /assistance as required.
Application Support
- Provide problem management services for Catalyst™ applications in production within an ITIL environment.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives on existing applications.
- Assist with the diagnosis of system defects raised by clients and seeing these through to resolution.
Organization
- Continually work to grow personal skills and techniques to maximize the effectiveness of work delivered.
- Complete administrative tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
- Comply with safe working practices in accordance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
- Observe and comply with policies procedures and quality management systems.
- Positively and actively support effective communication, and encourage and provide constructive feedback.
- Support Foster Moore and Teranet’s overall organizational vision, values, and culture.
- Assist others with the selection of approaches, methods, and/or services as required.
- Any other reasonable duties as required.
About You
- A degree in computer science, engineering, or other appropriate disciplines.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in business analysis, business management, IT, and Systems Integration consulting.
- Experience in Capital Markets or Finance industries.
- Experience in Agile methodology, specifically in a business analyst or product owner roles.
- Experience in implementing and configuring commercially available off-the-shelf (COTS) products.
- Excellent presentation skills and ability to perform configuration tasks in real-time with our clients.
- Sound technical knowledge of programming, system design, IT infrastructure, and database concepts.
- Being self-taught and demonstrated the ability to quickly learn new skills by studying resources and practicing independently.
- Ability to analyze, isolate and interpret business needs and develop appropriate technical solutions.
- An understanding of all aspects of the systems/software development lifecycle.
- Experience working with JIRA and Confluence.
- Demonstrated technical specification writing/documentation skills.
- Ability to converse with both end-users and IT employees at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to understand and empathize with customer concerns/issues remaining and remain committed to providing a quality result
