Job Description Summary
The Office of Senior Advisor International (SAI), Faculty of Education, coordinates the Faculty’s international engagement and programming. An important part of SAI’s mandate is to design, develop, market and oversee the implementation of a wide range of revenue-generating short-duration programs, visits and initiatives for international audiences.
Under the direction of the Director of International Initiatives in SAI, the International Program Coordinator plays an important role in the planning and implementation of short-duration professional development programs for visiting international students, teachers, faculty members and academic leaders. Responsibilities include identifying and facilitating new opportunities for international programs for targeted markets, fostering relationships with prospective and existing partner institutions, writing course materials and program outlines to respond to educational needs, developing and managing the administration and coordination for program delivery and implementation, and designing assessment tools.
Organizational Status
Reports to the Director of International Initiatives in SAI. Interacts directly with partner institutions and the visitors/students. Liaises with academic and administrative units in developing the programs/courses, and works with faculty and staff involved in the implementation of the programs.

Consequence of Error
Incorrect or poor decisions made by this position will have a significant impact on the quality of the program offered which could result in low satisfaction from partners, damage the reputation of the UBC Faculty of Education, and lose revenue. Poor judgments could result in legal liability of the University.
The incumbent is expected to exercise judgement in written and oral communications related to international programs and in managing and overseeing the delivery of international program support services.
Supervision Received
The incumbent works under well-established work procedures in the Office and reports to the Director, International Initiatives. May also receive directions from Senior Advisor, International.
Supervision Given
Manage temporary staff or student workers hired to support the programs and be responsible for recommending hiring, discipline, evaluation and termination for these temporary personnel.
Minimum Qualifications
University degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of two years of related experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
