The mission of this role is to grow Built to Sell Radio from roughly 30,000 downloads per month to 100,000+ downloads per month by January 2023.
What is Built to Sell Radio?
Built to Sell Radio is a podcast inspired by the bestselling book, Built to Sell: Creating a Business That Can Thrive Without You which both Inc and Fortune Magazine ranked one of their top picks for business owners in the year it was published. The book has been translated into 13 languages and enjoys more than 1,000 reviews on Amazon.
Built to Sell Radio was launched in 2015 and has almost 2 million downloads lifetime and averages around 30,000 downloads per month. The show features a new interview with a recently-exited founder each week and has a library of more than 300 past episodes. Built to Sell Radio was ranked by Forbes as one of their 10 best podcasts for business owners.
You will do this by: (The Day-to-Day Job)
You will “own” all aspects of Built to Sell Radio including:
Recruiting Guests: You will be responsible for all aspects of recruiting guests for the show including:
Researching potential guests that meet our criteria
Recruiting guests to agree to be on the show
Production: Working with our part-time audio and visual engineer, you will be responsible for the final product we publish including:
Overseeing all aspects of editing the show into a final product (you will need to direct the technical work, not do it)
Requesting edits of our audio and visual engineer
Intro and outro scripts
Selecting audio and visual effects
Promotion: You will be responsible for promoting the show. Your mission is to grow Built to Sell Radio from roughly 30,000 downloads per month to 100,000 + downloads per month by January 2023. Your specific marketing responsibilities will include:
Identifying clips to use to promote the show (creating the social assets and posting them is the responsibility of our marketing team)
Written description used to “sell” Built to Sell Radio subscribers on listening
Creating show notes
Advertising: You will be responsible for all aspects of advertiser relations including:
Negotiating with new potential advertisers
Creating advertising contracts
All advertiser communications
Pricing
Ensuring prompt payment of advertising fees

Attributes and Experience of the Successful Candidate (Who you are):
Five + years as a talk show producer on either television, radio or long format podcast with at least two of those five years producing a business show
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Fun and upbeat personality i.e. come “batteries included”
Marketing/Promotional/Communication experience
Communications or Journalism degree (nice to have)
