Logistics Manager – Niagara-on-the-Lake Greenhouse

We are currently looking for a Logistics Manager to play a key role in our team working closely with our Production, Sales, and Purchasing to deliver the upmost in support and service excellence to our organization. Summary

As a member of the management team, this role is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all aspects of the transportation and logistics functions of the company.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):

• Oversees and supervises the transportation and logistics functions of the organization internally and externally
• Schedules and dispatches fleet of company vehicles and drivers and negotiates with third party carriers to deliver product and obtain preferential rates.
• Establishes and implements policies and standards for the transportation and temporary storage of product
• Ensures completion of required shipping documents including commercial invoice, bill of lading and/or US customs documents
• Liaison between production, sales and purchasing to ensure all delivery dates are met
• Ensures maintenance of company’s fleet of vehicles including annual safeties, e-tests, licensing and compliance with international trucking regulations
• Monitors spending to ensure that expenses are consistent with approved budgets
• Ensures proper housekeeping, cleanliness and safety rules are understood and followed
• Manages employees respectfully and efficiently while regularly evaluating their performance
• Motivates, directs and develops team members as required
• Ensures all staff understand and adheres to policies and procedures
• Ensure staff coverage as required of the department inclusive of weekends, holidays and evenings

Education:

· Post secondary degree/diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics or Operations or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience relevant to the role.

Qualities, Skills and Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in logistics
• Demonstrated negotiation and multitasking abilities
• Strong leadership skills and an approachable personality that earns the respect of peers, colleagues and clients
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, must have a high level of proficiency using Excel and be comfortable using a computer for 80% of the day
• High functional ability utilizing Internet applications with the capability to learn new programs quickly.
• Organizational, time management and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and stress managing competing deadlines.
• Detailed knowledge of US DOT and MTO regulations to meet all government and company regulations.
• Ability to receive, process and report detailed information efficiently and accurately
• Strong attention to detail and proven critical thinking skills
