Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Payroll Specialist is responsible for providing a high level of client service to all payroll stakeholders, including but not limited to all employees and people managers, with exceptional attention to detail and a focus on process efficiency. The Payroll Specialist will ensure the effective operations of the Payroll Unit – comprised of Payroll processing and Payroll Analytics – so that TPA can best meet its legal and Collective Agreement payroll obligations while at the same time enhance the employee experience. This role will be accountable for building and managing Best Practices Controls to ensure compliance with legislation and collective agreements. They will be responsible for the investigation, interpretation of, and implementation of payroll changes as a result of changes in legislation and collective agreements. In addition, the incumbent will collaborate with internal (HR & Finance) and external stakeholders (City of Toronto) to understand and implement best practices.
The ideal candidate will have experience with a union workforce and leading payroll to continuously upgrade payroll systems.
