Position Summary:

Reporting to the Associate Director, People and Culture, the Human Resources Business Partner will execute People and Culture strategies in alignment with HR best-practices, legislative compliance, and overall organizational objectives across Toronto School of Management, Niagara College – Toronto and The Language Gallery.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with department leaders to understand their business objectives and challenges and provide strategic guidance on organizational design and workforce planning.
• Support, advise, and coach leaders within the organization in accordance with local legislation and company policy.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures, ensuring legislative compliance.
• Execute full-cycle recruitment, partnering with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and developing effective recruitment strategies.
• Conduct employee orientation, onboarding and offboarding procedures including but not limited to new hire employment documents, payroll and benefits coordination, and IT requirements.
• Ensure employment records are appropriately collected, stored, and maintained for assigned departments, ensuring data integrity and security.
• Support employee engagement initiatives in partnership with campus directors and senior leaders to promote positive employee experiences.
• Handle employee relations matters, including addressing conflicts and ensuring a positive work environment.
• Support the performance management process, providing guidance to managers on goal-setting, performance feedback, development plans and improvement plans.
• Handle employee exits, including terminations and drafting relevant documentation.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and policies, collaborate with the JHSC committees across campuses, and serve as a liaison between management, People and Culture, and the JHSC.
• Develop and monitor succession plans and training and development initiatives to enhance employee skills and promote career growth.
• Support the implementation of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) initiatives and programs across the organization.
• Prepare and present regular and ad hoc reports on HR metrics recruitment, turnover, performance evaluations, and proactively action plan to drive continuous improvement.
• Stay up to date with HR best practices and industry trends. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency within People and Culture operations.
• Handle highly sensitive and confidential information in a professional manner.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• Minimum 5 years progressive Human Resources experience.
• Experience working in the higher education industry is a strong asset.
• Bachelor’s degree or in a relevant field, or completion of a post-graduate program in Human Resources Management.
• Member in good standing of a human resources professional association, CHRP or CHRL preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Strong understanding of Ontario employment legislation, including the ESA, OHRC, OHSA and AODA.
• Proficiency with HRIS, experience with Ceridian Dayforce is a strong asset.
• Strong knowledge and proficiency with recruitment tools including Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and LinkedIn Recruiter.
• Proficiency with Excel, including basic reporting, pivot tables, and ability to create HR dashboards.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite.
• Ability to handle confidential information with tact.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong attention to detail.

Work Conditions:

Hybrid work schedule with an expectation to work onsite two days per week. Work location will vary from Toronto School of Management, Niagara College – Toronto and The Language Gallery campuses.
