Torstaff Looking for Controller at Toronto, Ontario, Canada Full Time

Boutique firm located on the subway line requires a highly motivated hands-on Controller in the Fashion retail industry to join their team.

This candidate will be responsible for planning and performing all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for financial statements. This position will also be responsible for maintaining financial models for residential real estate projects, corporate cash flows and other budgeting/forecasting functions. The major responsibilities are as follows:

• Accounting functions

1. Preparation of group audit plan and monitoring the audit progress
2. Preparation of year-end work papers including preparation of financial statements and notes
3. Liaise with external auditors for audit and tax compliance
4. Assist in financial reporting to head office
5. Assist in year-end asset valuations
6. Assist in corporate income tax filings
7. Reviewing and filing of HST returns
8. Supervise junior accountant/bookkeeper
9. Review and verify wire transfer, online payment and manual cheque
10. Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations
11. Research on new accounting policies, tax compliance requirements and regulations which may impact the company
