The Township of Langley is currently recruiting for a regular full-time Administrative Coordinator to join our team of professionals in the Engineering Division, Business Support Department. Reporting to the Manager, Administration and Business Services, in this unionized position you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising administrative business services and technical functions in support of the Engineering Division. We are looking for a leader with the ability to relieve senior staff of administrative details and coordinate the implementation of new office systems, work programs and processes. This position requires a high level of leadership, energy and excellence in customer service.
Responsibilities:
Relieve senior staff of routine administrative details
Research statistical and technical information related to departmental functions
Plan, assign, supervise and evaluate the work of the others involved in a variety of business support functions
Participate in hiring new staff and assist the business support team in resolving complex problems and issues
Review, develop and implement new office methods, procedures and systems
Provide divisional training for new software and serve as the divisional contact for the development, testing and implementation of new automated processes
Assist the management team in development and implementation of corporate initiatives as it relates to the Engineering Division
Provide confidential support to Engineering Division Managers and Directors
Perform related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by courses in office administration and data base management plus considerable related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Thorough knowledge of modern office management methods, practices and procedures
Considerable knowledge of applicable bylaws, related regulations, departmental functions and procedures
Ability to relieve senior staff of administrative detail and to undertake special projects as required
Ability to supervise the work of a moderate sized group of business support staff
Ability to develop, implement and maintain effective office methods, systems and procedures
Ability to make decisions in accordance with applicable guidelines, and process difficult and contentious enquiries and problems with tact and authority
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts

The CUPE rate of pay for this position is $32.90 – $38.73 per hour (5 steps, 2020 rates) plus benefits. The hours of work are 7 hours per day Monday to Friday between 8:00am – 4:30pm.
