Position Summary:
Responsible and accountable for decisions and actions in the provision and management of patient care, providing crisis intervention services in the Emergency Department
Coordinating follow up services with relevant community resources
Practitioner, consultant and educator for appropriate patient groups and health care team members
Provide written assessment and treatment recommendations
Qualifications:
Registered in good standing with OCSWSSW and eligible for membership with OASW
M.S.W. preferred
Member of OCSWSSW
Experience in individual, couple and family counselling essential
Previous clinical mental health experience in an acute care hospital setting is required
Sound knowledge of mental health disorders, DSM IVR classifications and pertinent legislation
Sound knowledge of mental status evaluations, psychosocial assessments, suicide and violence risk assessments, psychiatric history taking, and discharge planning
Comfortable working within a multidisciplinary team, under pressure and within a changing environment
Skilled working with a broad range of client groups and their significant supports
Able to maintain timely and thorough documentation
Working knowledge of community resources
Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Reliable, flexible and positive team player
