Position Summary:
As part of the Gordon Food Services’ family, three of the GFS Canada affiliated specialty companies are currently looking for a full time Recruiter to oversee all aspects of the recruitment life-cycle for all positions in the Warehouse and/or Production area(s).
Reporting to the Human Resources Generalist for GFS’ affiliated specialty companies in Canada, we are seeking a highly responsive, customer focused individual with strong time management and organizational skills to manage recruitment for approximately 40-50 (primarily hourly) open positions within the Specialty Companies as per their business needs. This position will have a strong dotted line to the location General Manager and HR team.
The Recruiter will be responsible for recruiting for various front line production and warehouse general labour positions, order selectors, shipper/receivers, meat cutters, fish filleters, and various lead hand positions, and may also help out with recruiting for some office/administrative roles.
Much of the work of this role is conducted with hiring managers and candidates via phone, email and virtual meetings (Google hangouts), but may also include employee training, participation in onsite and/or virtual meetings, job fairs, and career presentations at schools and other organizations.
While excellent guidance and support will be provided to the incumbent, the Recruiter must be self-motivated and self-efficient, and have prior demonstrated experience in doing so.
This position will support the following 3 affiliated specialty companies of Gordon Food Service:
United Restaurant Supplies, located at 300 Kennedy Road South in Brampton, ON.
Intercity Packers Ontario, located at 6880 Pacific Circle in Mississauga, ON.
Trimen Foodservice Equipment Ltd., located at 1240 Ormont Drive in North York, ON.
Essential Functions:
➤ Recruitment and Selection
Guides candidates through the recruitment cycle including coordinating testing, screens, interviews, and job observations
Interviews potential candidates both virtually and in-person using industry-standard techniques
Provide facility tours to potential candidates
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations; job shadowing.
Creates and implements new and innovative Recruitment tools and processes to enhance the candidate experience and expectations
➤ Attracting Talent
Builds applicant sources by researching and contacting community services, colleges, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites; providing organization information, opportunities, and benefits; making presentations; maintaining rapport; attending community events.
Attends external job fairs and organizes internal job fairs
➤ Labour Planning and Data Analysis
Establishes recruitment requirements by studying organization plans and objectives; meeting with managers to discuss needs, attends bi-weekly labour planning meetings for both external recruitment and internal movement
Evaluates both internal and external applicants by discussing job requirements and applicant qualifications with managers
Maintains and conducts ongoing recruitment data analysis. Utilizes applicable recruiting metrics and measures hiring success to optimize the process of hiring. Interprets data on an ongoing basis to guide business decisions.
Assists with planning and coordinating employee events supported or hosted by the HR Department
➤ Hiring and Onboarding
Liaisons with Trainers and Supervisors to facilitate New Hire onboarding and training period
Drafts new employee contracts and internal employee contract amendments for supported area of business
Coordinate onboarding including employee photos, data input and management, and email set up
Serves as an employee advocate for new hires together with HR Generalist
➤ Other special projects as required
➤ Bilingual proficiency with both English and French language is highly preferred
Experience & Qualifications:
2-3 years of recruiting experience, preferably in a high-volume, matrixed environment
Experience understanding production, general labour, shipping/receiving and/or various warehouse hiring is preferred
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
Proven success delivering recruiting results individually or as part of a team in a fast-paced, demanding, high growth environment
Strong Knowledge of applicable employment laws and government regulations
Strong Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Experience using the Workday/Indeed Recruiting system will definitely be an asset.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
