As an integral member of UHN Pharmacy Services, the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor maintains responsibility for the supervision of Pharmacy Technicians within the team, ensuring the delivery of quality and consistent pharmacy services, enforcing the standards set by the profession and the hospital, and acts as a leader, mentor and role model in the provision of pharmacy services.
The supervision of Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Technician students
Delegating, coordinating, and monitoring technical activities
Collaborates with Operations Leader and Manager to work collaboratively in resolving problems and disputes in a fair and consistent manner in accordance to hospital and departmental policies
Collaborates with Operations Leader and Manager in resolving day to day operational issues, ensuring the provision of safe, efficient and effective pharmacy services
Assists in the ongoing review and implementation of workflow changes and pharmacy operations and systems projects, as necessary, to ensure effectiveness and efficiency pharmacy operations
Ensures operation procedures are adhered to and inventory management is supported per hospital or OCP standards, documentation is completed and equipment is maintained
Organizes activities such as drug distribution, systems management, medication safety, continuous quality improvement, quality assurance and workload measurement, as appropriate
Involved in the administration of Special Access Programming
Provides system support and administration
Performs cross-functional and /or other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested
Registered Pharmacy Technician Licensure with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
Completion of a post-secondary Pharmacy Technician Program from a recognized college required
3 years practical hospital pharmacy experience required
PEBC Qualifying Exam required
Previous supervisory, management or leadership experience an asset
Experience with relevant pharmacy systems and software an asset
Certificate of qualification from the Pharmacy Examination Board an asset
RPhT designation with OCP required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
Excellent organizational and time management skills required
Self- starter, innovative and passionate team based leader
