In accordance with the Temporary Librarian, Administrative and Professional Officer (TLAPO) Agreement , this position is an initial appointment of 2 years and offers a comprehensive benefits package found at Faculty & Staff Benefits and annual salary range of $63,090 – $105,189.

Location – This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in person with on site work taking place at North Campus, Edmonton.

Working for the College of Health Sciences

The College of Health Sciences brings together the combined strength of all our health sciences Faculties and schools, enabling a new level of interdisciplinary health science research and teaching that advances the full spectrum of human health and wellness in individuals and communities around the world. It is comprised of six faculties, over 700 faculty members and 7,200 undergraduate and graduate students.

Position Summary

The College of Health Sciences coordinates interdisciplinary learning activities in collaboration with representatives from each of the health science faculties. The Education Developer will oversee and coordinate the learning activities for core interdisciplinary programming, including a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree. This role requires the incumbent to utilize their knowledge and experience in designing, developing and delivering educational programming. They will be an excellent communicator working with the faculties to adapt and incorporate varied disciplinary perspectives in interdisciplinary learning initiatives.

Duties

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): content frame working, storyboarding, core content design, and the identification of activities, interactives, assessments, and multimedia to enrich the learning experience. Additionally, the Educational Developer ensures quality across every experience, compliance with academic freedom and accessibility standards, and collaboration with partners to ensure Indigenous Initiatives and EDI are at the forefront of and represented across all programming.

Interdisciplinary Learning Activities – Development and Management

• In consultation with the Associate Dean Education and faculty representatives, develop and communicate learning outcomes for interdisciplinary learning activities
• Serve as the primary coordinator of information required for a program proposal through the governance pathway; liaising with course instructors, Chairs or Deans regarding courses that will be part of a BSc Health Sciences (e.g., discussing course availability, enrollment etc)
• Identify and confirm course content experts to support curriculum development
• Develop or assist with the development of interdisciplinary courses
• Liaise with faculties and assigned instructors during development
• Assist with the arrangement of meetings of working groups related to the program proposal
• Monitor all phases of the program project to ensure that the project is delivered on time and on budget, with the highest degree of partner satisfaction

Content, Assets, & Assessments

• Collaborate with the academic lead/SME and a content writer on the creation of core content
• Provide substantive editing for structure, readability, and flow; review subsequent drafts of core content and send final draft for copy editing to an approved HUB editor
• Coordinate with the communications/ marketing specialist to share program/course assets that can be utilized for promotion of new online offerings

Quality Assurance & Testing

• Perform quality assessment checks and user acceptance testing
• Contribute to the overall approach to quality assurance through continuous process improvement, skill and knowledge enhancement, and design approach
• Prepare written reports or presentations regarding interdisciplinary programming
• Reflect on curriculum delivery and outcomes and suggest adjustments to learning activities in subsequent offerings

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• Strong interpersonal communication skills (e.g. emotional intelligence & self-awareness).
• Ability to collaborate and engage in shared decision-making within a teaching team environment.
• Ability to work with instructional design personnel, including personnel at the Centre for Teaching and Learning or similar.
• Commitment to the incorporation/inclusion of EDI and Indigenous perspectives and approaches.
• Commitment to the creation of safe and supportive learning and working environments.
• Demonstrates accountability to the teaching team and responsibility for carrying out duties and activities assigned or agreed upon.
• Demonstrates a solution-focused and strengths-based approach to teamwork and teaching.
• Ability to effectively use teaching and educational technologies applicable to courses (e.g.eClass, PeopleSoft/Campus Solutions, Google Docs)
• A commitment to learner-centred teaching, innovation in teaching &learning and continuous quality improvement.
• Knowledge of current standards of practice, policies, protocols and practice guidelines;
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and to problem-solve on a day-to-day basis
• Ability to prioritize work, make independent decisions based on previous experiences, established precedents, and official policies, and act proactively;
• Ability to work with a high level of professionalism.
