Department Summary
The Department of Family Medicine at the University of Alberta exists to teach the discipline of family medicine for the future of practice and the needs of society, and to produce scholarly work that improves the practices of family medicine and primary health care. The residency program of the Department of Family Medicine is strongly grounded in Evidence Based Medicine and is supported by physicians well known for their involvement in medical research. The training of residents emphasizes the development of skills, behaviours and attitudes required for effective, community-based clinical practice, where the practice is based on collaborative doctor-patient relationships and where the physician is a resource to the practice. This primary two-year program leads to eligibility for certification by the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

In consultation with the program director and assistant program director, the successful candidate will be dedicated to the transformation of the residency program curriculum, including all aspects of the curriculum redesign process.
