Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion – Graduate Assistant
Position Details
Position Summary: The Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Office has an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Assistant to support the University of Lethbridge strategies to create a diverse and inclusive community where students, faculty, and staff feel welcome, are treated equitable and can thrive in their various endeavor’s. Reporting to the Project Manager EDI, the Graduate Assistant will undertake research and provide support to various EDI initiatives and projects on campus.
Main Duties:
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Project Manager EDI to develop research plans according to the medium- and long-term needs of EDI Office, (e.g., environmental scans, policy, and procedures compilations, etc.) and then execute and report on them.
- Provide administration support to the EDI team, including but not limited to producing meeting minutes, preparation of letter/documents, EDI reports, transcribe and compile qualitative data from focus groups, and any other administration task as needed.
- Under the direction of the Executive Director and Project Manager EDI, and in coordination with other internal and external partners, support all operational aspects of the U of L Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion communications plan.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager EDI in the creation of an EDI resources database specifically tailored to the U of L needs.
- Supporting the EDI project manager in the development and updating the EDI webpage and social media assets in collaboration with communications.
- Assist with various outreach activities developed by the EDI team, including but not limited to preparation, coordination of logistics to and assist with the delivery of presentations to stakeholders, run information booths and attend events on campus, and overall interaction with the U of L community, particularly with students and the student union.
Salary: $1,800/Month
Hours of work: 56 hours/month (Approx. 14 hours per week)
Position Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Master or PhD program at the University of Lethbridge
- Keen interest in advancing equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice
- Strong communications, interpersonal skills, and social media skills
- Research skills
- Event planning skills
- Presentation and facilitation skills
- Ability to translate complex technical information to multiple audience
