The Department of Medicine, at the Temerty Faculty of Medicine, University of Toronto is seeking applicants for the position of Faculty Lead, Mentorship, within its Culture and Inclusion portfolio. Applicants must hold a full-time clinical academic appointment in the Department of Medicine at the University of Toronto at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher and have successfully passed the academic probationary period. The term of appointment is three years, renewable once following a successful review. Effective start date will be February 1, 2024, or as mutually agreed upon.

Reporting to the Vice-Chair, Culture and Inclusion, the Faculty Lead, Mentorship will promote, sustain and further strengthen the DoM’s mentorship program to ensure high-quality mentorship of all faculty members across the academic career lifespan i.e. early, mid and late career. They will be expected to create a governance structure that ensures broad engagement of department members and to work with stakeholders in the Department of Medicine to bring a mentorship lens to all major policy, departmental activities and practical decisions.

The ideal candidate is dynamic, will have experience building community and common purpose. They will be approachable, collaborative, a clear communicator, aware of departmental social and environmental issues, demonstrate professionalism, be impartial and a trusted individual. Applicant will have experience advocating and supporting needs of people and or groups, demonstrated knowledge of Departmental and Faculty initiatives related to the portfolio, experience and capacity for leadership in mentorship and experience mentoring across the academic lifespan.
