The Departments of Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital and University of Toronto are seeking a qualified full-time academic general internist with advanced training in Addiction Medicine. The successful candidate must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Teacher, Clinician Educator, or Clinician in Quality and Innovation (CQI). The expected start date of the position is January 1, 2023, or shortly thereafter.
The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and have, or be eligible for, certification in Internal Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The successful candidate must have proven clinical excellence in various aspects of general internal medicine, including acute inpatient care, ambulatory care and perioperative medicine, plus addiction medicine. The successful candidate will participate in the educational programs in General Internal Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital and the University of Toronto and collaborate in clinical research and quality improvement programs. Demonstrated excellence and achievement in teaching and education are strongly desired. Teaching experience will be measured by the presence of a strong track record of interests and excellence in resident and fellow education, formal training in teaching methodology, leadership as a clinical educator and other relevant experience. Advanced training in quality and evidence of scholarship is the minimum requirement for the CQI job description.
The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of General Internal Medicine at St. Michael’s Hospital. The Division of General Internal Medicine, composed of 19 full time academic internists, has an international reputation in clinical research, education and quality improvement.
Estimated remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience.
