About the Opportunity
- Independently handle month end closing
- Track and maintain lease, fixed assets schedules & depreciation calculations
- Reconcile key accounts, including bank accounts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and other general ledger accounts.
- Preparation of sales taxes, WSIB, IFTA & carbon taxes
- Provide support for internal and external audits, including preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
- Performing other accounting duties and supporting junior staff as required or assigned
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including industry specific requirements
- Other job duties related to accounting as required
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification or working towards is preferred
- Strong reporting skills and financial data analysis
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the trucking or transportation industry
- Proficiency in accounting software (such as QuickBooks or NetSuite) and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely
- Working knowledge of national and local tax regulations and compliance reporting
