As an Operations Initiative Lead, Mental Health and Substance Use with Vancouver Coastal Health you will:
Provide leadership for MHSU that will result in enhanced quality of services, alignment with best practices, integration of services and clinical practice, improved client/patient access and satisfaction, and cost-effective care.
Promote excellence in client/patient and family centred care, and education within a complex MHSU suite of programs, alignment with VCH vision, values and strategic directions.
Promote and facilitate participation in developing policies as well as innovative solutions to health issues as they relate to health planning, and program implementation and evaluation.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of designated programs (Acute, Outpatient and Community), including scheduling and human resource management, and is accountable for developing and monitoring the budget, and completing applications for funding and reporting.
Liaise and communicate regularly with various external groups such as government Ministries and agencies, contracted services, clients and their families, consumer groups, health agencies, emergency services, educational and other community/site partners.
Support both the Manager and Clinical Supervisors the Operations Leader will interact with internal stakeholders such as Directors, Managers, Physicians/Psychiatrists, contractors, peer workers, committee and task groups, and researchers as required for conducting daily business and achieving program goals and objectives.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in a relevant health care profession supplemented.
Five (5) to seven (7) year’s recent, related experience in a complex health care or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
Comprehensive knowledge of complex care and service delivery in MHSU care settings.
Demonstrated knowledge of MHSU care best practices; populations served and care needs/activities.
Broad knowledge of patient care delivery systems in primary, acute and community settings and the principles underlying safe, effective care transitions and efficient flow.
Demonstrated ability to form effective relationships across the continuum of care.
Demonstrated ability to provide clinical and administrative supervision and consultation and manage relevant HR processes.
Ability to maintain a high level of professional confidentiality.
Broad knowledge of budget development and management.
Demonstrated skills and ability to facilitate the development of highly effective teams, and to work both independently and collaboratively.
Demonstrated ability to model and foster a positive, collaborative, and respectful working environment.
Demonstrated listening and information seeking skills that promote open and direct communication, and lead to a cooperative approach to problem solving.
Utilizes effective facilitation, persuasion and negotiation abilities to achieve consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes.
Demonstrated analytical ability to effectively review current processes, identify areas for improvement, write reports and analyze statistical data.
Demonstrated ability to develop and monitor designated program budgets, monitor variances and secure additional funding from a variety of sources.
Applies project management methodologies in the design and development of various frameworks, tools, and techniques.
Demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver presentations and reports.
Strong systems-thinking, critical analysis, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated ability to apply superior judgment, political expertise to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with others at all levels both internally and externally to the organization.
Demonstrated ability to keep informed regarding current legislation, regulations, industry trends, technology and protocols, share knowledge and support staff to integrate evidence-based practice in the delivery of quality care/practices.
Demonstrated ability to lead quality improvement activities, including the application of LEAN methodology.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
