Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Social Work Assistant to join the Banfield Pavilions team in Vancouver, BC. Apply today to join our team!
As a Social Work Assistant with VCH you will:
- Work under the general operational supervision of the Patient Services Manager, clinical supervision from the Practice Coordinator and Social Workers in a team based environment to provide social work support services during the admission and discharge of patients/clients.

Support your team by performing duties including:
- interviewing clients/families/facilities for information,
- assisting clients to approach external resources,
- providing practical support to clients regarding benefits, housing, transportation, community resources, finances, and acquiring and maintaining a supply of up to date information and applications on services/agencies/resources.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience
- Completion of a recognized Social Service Worker or Social Service Diploma Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to priorize and organize work.
- Ability to operate related equipment.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.
As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
