Walton is currently looking for a full-time, remote Intermediate Accountant, located in Calgary, AB, Canada. The Intermediate Accountant will be an integral part of the Finance and Treasury team at Walton, preparing general ledger entries and monthly financial statements, as well as working with our banking partners on the opening of new bank accounts and managing cash balances. This role will have company-wide accounting and treasury responsibilities while working alongside the operations and portfolio management teams.
This position will report directly to the Vice President, Treasury and Accounting.
Responsibilities
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to general ledger accounts.
- File and assist with monthly & annual taxes, including GST filings.
- Assist with the month end and process by preparing month end journal entries (accruals, non-reoccurring, etc.)
- Maintain reconciliations of general ledger accounts, intercompany accounts, and bank accounts.
- Oversee bank administration, maintain bank infrastructure, and support bank relationships worldwide.
- Assess and implement financial products, services, and technologies.
- Establish and update internal controls, incorporating best practices to safeguard corporate assets.
- Help to manage corporate liquidity and treasury operations to support the company’s strategic growth and financial goals.
- Assist in ad hoc projects and analysis.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Accounting related post-secondary education such as a certificate or diploma
- 3-5 years of accounting experience in a multi-entity company, treasury experience is an asset, but not required.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics considered an asset.
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Outstanding quantitative and qualitative analytical skills; strong knowledge of finance and accounting
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Highly motivated with demonstrated ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and possess the initiative to identify problems and propose innovative solutions.
- Maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct.
