Senior Accountant

As a Senior Accountant with Western Financial Group, you will provide insight and analysis on crucial general ledger accounts.

Reporting to the Director, Financial Reporting, our Senior Accountant is key a member of the Financial Reporting team; which manages and leads the financial operations and provides meaningful information to the business and it’s shareholder. You will oversee the day-to-day accounting requirements of the Financial Reporting team. The success of you and your team stems from your ability to ensure balance sheet reconciliation and financial reporting is handled with accuracy and in compliance with established internal and external accounting practices and procedures. What does an Senior Accountant look like at Western?

• Identify, prepare and post all journal entries as required
• Provide and document financial statement support including analysis, calculations and reconciliation, for key general ledger accounts.
• Preparation of financial reports and regulatory reports for Parent Company, including templates for reporting and initial analysis as required
• Monthly sales tax and quarterly GST returns
• Advise Western Business Unit and offices on procedures and processes regarding accounting procedures and policies
• Ensure financial statement close process controls are followed appropriately and effectively

The value you bring

• Bachelor degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance or Commerce
• Previous experience with balance sheet reconciliation and financial reporting

• Good listening, verbal, and written skills
• Proficient in Excel and Word
• Demonstrated understanding and adherence to strict confidentiality and privacy of information policies
