Western Health currently requires a Human Resources Specialist on a permanent full-time basis in the Human Resources Department at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL.
DUTIES: This position will report to the Regional Human Resources Manager. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for providing support and direction to managers and employees regarding disability and attendance management. Included in these responsibilities are addressing attendance related concerns, return to work facilitation, and negotiation of workplace accommodations for employees impacted by illness or injury. This will include the drafting of policies and procedures related to disability management as well as the ongoing development, implementation, support and management of the organization’s Attendance Support program. The incumbent will be required to work cooperatively with employees, WorkplaceNL representatives, managers, union representatives and rehabilitation consultants.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: The successful applicant will have a university degree in Commerce or Business with major course work in Human Resources. A degree in one of the social sciences may also be considered. A demonstrated knowledge of computer software including word processing, spreadsheeting and database applications in a business setting is required. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the ability to work and communicate effectively with people in all departments of this organization and with external organizations. Knowledge of the full range of Human Resources functions is required, as is the knowledge of Workplace Health Safety and Compensation, Occupational Health and Safety legislation and the Human Rights Act.
PLEASE NOTE: The candidate may be required to travel within and outside the region. The use of a private vehicle is a condition of employment.
Hours of Work: 70 Hours per pay period
0800-1600, 0830-1630, 0900-1700 Hours; Monday to Friday; flexible work hours required.
Salary: $69,820.00 to $90,766.00.00 per Annum
