Overview of role:

WestJet is currently seeking an Advisor, Sales Training for Travel Trade, to support our internal team and external partners. Playing a key role, you will bring your creative and results orientated approach to the role to support our Travel Trade partners. You will prepare, execute, and evaluate educational programs for our B2B partners, as well as support activities and events that create awareness, invoke agent engagement and drive sales.

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing, Communications and Training, the Advisor, Sales Training role is accountable for the development and execution of both internal and external agency and corporate partner training materials in support of the Sales departments campaigns along with the greater WestJet initiatives. This is a specialist Trade Marketing role, requiring a combination of training and technical skills, a strong understanding of Learning Management tools, and knowledge of various training mediums. This role requires analytical skills to evaluate how training modules are performing and to develop testing strategies and optimization plans. You will work closely and maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop integrated training plans .

Key deliverables include:

• Onboard WestJet approved training tool (ICOM productions) for internal and external indirect partners
• Manage, update and amend user groups within the training tool
• Create, develop, and implement internal and external training/educational strategy, plans, programs and assets to support revenue targets, projects and WestJet led initiatives
• Responsible for monitoring the effective implementation of training for all impacted groups
• Measure, consolidate reporting and communicate on the success of each training initiative against documented objectives, campaign KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), etc.
• Deploy feedback tools to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum
• Collaborate with internal departments to develop training materials that achieve defined learning outcomes
• Create course materials and teaching aids that support content delivery and skills assessments
• Collaborate with functional experts to determine training goals, update the content of current training programs, and design measurement and feedback tools
• Collaborate with the other Trade Marketing Advisors to develop full scale training content and modules to support WestJet initiatives
• Represent the business unit and work collaboratively with cross-functional internal teams (Brand, Channel Teams, Design, Digital, Analytics, Guest Communications, Social, Loyalty, Regional Performance Marketing, Revenue Management and Pricing, Network Planning, IT,)
• React quickly to the actions of our competitors and become an expert at quick-to-market strategies to drive sales
• Proactively co-ordinate and liaise with the Manager to ensure timelines are being managed, updates are provided, and proper approvals are obtained
• Proactively participate in the improvement and troubleshooting of processes as they pertain to Sales training involvement
• Support Manager on continuous review of competitive analysis, internal and external market research, and act as a business SME regarding airline/tour operator awareness, tactical and trade training
• Share learnings and provide support for team members. Help to provide an environment where you, your team members and your stakeholders can learn continuously
• Support Manager and team members with other tasks and projects as assigned

Experience and qualifications:

• Diploma or Degree in instructional design, education or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience as a training consultant or a similar role
• Strong organization and time management skills; proven ability to deal with multiple tasks, rapidly changing priorities in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work well under pressure
• In—depth knowledge of curriculum design, instructional methods and training techniques
• Strong skill set in critical thinking, time management and risk assessment
• Strong relationship building skills with experience working with various stakeholders (both internal and external)
• Excellent writing and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to quickly, succinctly and adapt to varied audiences
• Travel trade industry experience is considered a strong asset
• Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint are required
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the capability of establishing respect and credibility through actions
• Excellent attention to detail and an elevated level of accuracy
• Proactive, energetic personality; inquiring, investigative mind
