The Role
In this stimulating role as an Actuarial Service Center Team Leader you will lead a range of client projects within an internal service center for the Retirement Practice. You will effectively manage clients, projects, and team members to meet or exceed client expectations.
Client teams within WTW are supported by a network of five actuarial service centers (ASC’s) across North America. Given the size and complexity of our client portfolio, you will have the opportunity to support diverse projects related to funding and expense valuations for pension and welfare plans, forecasting, experience studies, accounting for special events, support for plan design and union negotiation projects, proxy statements, government forms, data reconciliations, responses to auditor’s requests, etc.
Our Team Leaders have the opportunity to oversee a diverse team of pension analysts and senior analysts, providing technical review of work product along with training and performance guidance as needed and act as a coach, mentor and role model for junior associates.
In addition our Team Leaders:
Deliver superior and consistent project management for assigned clients
Develop and manage project plans and budgets involving multiple workflow streams and client teams
Serve as the day to day project lead, ensuring the progress of the team against established objectives, budget, timeline, deliverables and quality standards
Serve as primary contact to client teams on delivery of services from the Actuarial Service Center
Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client teams through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
Manage client team expectations and raise appropriate issues to Lead Retirement Consultant
Perform technical review of work products
Contribute to the development of new tools and approaches
Identify opportunities to enhance quality and/or improve processes to reduce costs
Manage projects and leverage resources to produce quality deliverables on time and within budget

The Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in a program with a heavy emphasis on actuarial science, mathematics or statistics
A track record of performing core retirement work
Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Proven mathematical aptitude and analytical skills
Detail oriented
Ability to ask the right questions and seek help where appropriate; good problem solving ability
Sense of accountability; owning one’s work and taking pride in it
Ability to organize, set priorities, work independently and complete multiple projects within established deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to interact with colleagues at all levels
Strong client service orientation
Ability to work both independently and on client team
Strong oral and written communication skills in English
