As the Lead Back-End Engineer (Data & Integrations) team at Xello, you’ll be leading complex, data-heavy projects that encompass product features as well as integrations with partners and customers.

What you’ll do…
- Work with Scrum Masters to turn complex projects into manageable epics and tasks that will deliver tangible results in an Agile release cycle
- Identify project risks, plan mitigation, and work with product owners to manage scope
- Recommend solutions and take part in phasing out or upgrading older technology
- Evaluate and advocate for new technology, based on proofs of concept and metrics
- Mentor other engineers through whiteboard sessions, pair programming, and code reviews
- Liaise with clients and client-facing staff and partners to understand technical challenges
- Recommend and plan solutions that will increase operational efficiency and reduce friction for clients
- Proactively respond to performance and capacity issues by working with other engineers to profile and tune code (with a special emphasis on data and backend components)
- Monitor and triage defects
- Recommend tests and defensive coding methodologies to minimize defect regression
What we’re looking for…

- Good communication skills, with the ability to listen and relay empathy and understanding for diverse perspectives
- The ability to adapt quickly and creatively, innovate solutions, and embrace the new while accepting the ambiguous
- Experience providing and consuming data from APIs
- Advanced T-SQL knowledge (preferably with SQL Server 2014+)
- Proven experience in backend development (preferably C#)
- Experience building scalable applications using tools & techniques such as multi-threading, NoSQL (Redis, Solr), caching, load balancing and cloud technologies (specifically Azure)
- A test-driven mindset with demonstrable experience writing high-quality unit tests
