Yukon Government Looking for Mining Lands Officer at Dawson, YT Full Time

This is for a two year, full-time TERM position working 75 hours bi-weekly.

In the modern day context, Yukon Government controls and administers its natural resources, including its minerals. The Mineral Resources branch is responsible for administration of the Quartz Mining Act, Placer Mining Act and regulations through the Mining Recorder offices located in Whitehorse, Watson Lake, Dawson, and Mayo.

Working as a member of the Mining Recorder’s team, the Mining Lands Officer is responsible for coordinating the mining land use application process; providing information, advice and assistance for the acquisition and security of mineral title to the mining community; and evaluating, processing and making recommendations for the acceptance or rejection of applications.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the following qualifications. Please note selection for further consideration will be based solely on the information you provide in your resume.

• Degree or diploma in natural resource management, mineral exploration, environmental science or a related field;
• Experience working with legislation and regulatory documents related to natural resource and/or land use management;
• Experience providing front-line client service, including engaging with stakeholders;
• Experience working with Yukon environmental assessment and/or regulatory processes would be an asset;
• Experience consulting with First Nations would be an asset.

Candidates who have a combination of education, training and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above will be equally considered.

• Knowledge of the Yukon Final Umbrella Agreement and Yukon First Nation Agreements
