The opportunity…
The Compensation & Classification branch in the Public Service Commission provides professional and integrated classification, compensation, pay, pension and benefit administration services to support fair, equitable and consistent compensation for all Yukon public service employees
The payroll specialist position forms part of the payroll team who are responsible to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of pay, on a portfolio basis for assigned Yukon Government employees of all tenures. This position performs verification-audit responsibilities conforming to strict quality standards and timelines in accordance with the provisions of Collective Agreements, Section M, legislation, Canada Revenue Agency and Service Canada requirements. The Payroll Specialist also contributes and participates in system and process improvement initiatives

Post-secondary education in finance/accounting, or Certification with Canadian Payroll Association
Experience in a financial/payroll related, operational level, high volume, deadline driven office environment.
Experience administering policies, procedures, and guidelines while adhering to legislation, acts, and collective agreements.
Experience with Excel and a computerized accounting/pay system. PeopleSoft experience would be considered an asset
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.
