The Opportunity
The Information Management & Technology Branch at the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) delivers IT services to the organization. This student position will be a part of the Product Support team and will work together with existing team members to triage, troubleshoot, and fix data-related issues in the OneStop platform.

Your Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the other Data Analysts and Data Architect on the Production Support team to support the data needs of the organization.

• Assist in the triage of code and data issues.

• Perform ad-hoc analysis to trouble-shoot data-related issues.

• Find and research problems for the data owners and review data quality thoroughly, by record and case.

• Assist in the maintenance of the corporate relational databases and data solutions.

• Analyze how data impacts business systems, decision making, and analytics used within the corporate environment.

• Work with the support team to design and extend a data architecture that meets the reference architecture and supports the business needs.

• Provide mapping, and support documentation for the existing data model.

• Participate in meetings, reviews, and other discussions as required.

Qualifications:

• 3rd year standing in Computer Science or Data Science field of study.

• Experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server).

• Experience with Structured Query Language (SQL).

• Experience with Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Azure platform.

• Experience working with structured and unstructured data.

• Ability to use data tools and generate insights from data.

• Technical and non-technical written and verbal skills.

• Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team.

Additional Requirements and Information:

• This position is a full-time summer student position which is expected to last approximately 4 months.

• Proof of enrollment in a registered institution and returning to studies following this placement will be a condition of hire.
