AUC Looking for Senior Human Resources analyst at Calgary, AB Full Time

The AUC regulates the utilities sector, natural gas and electricity markets to protect social,

economic and environmental interests of Alberta where competitive market forces do not.

Purpose

Reporting to the Human Resources director, the Human Resources analyst plays an integral role

in the delivery of human resources (HR) services and programs that align with the vision, values,

and business objectives of the AUC.

The HR analyst will be responsible for leading ongoing programs such as compensation,

performance management, pandemic support, employee surveys, leadership development

programs as well as participating in the development of other HR programs or policies.

Responsibilities/duties

• In collaboration with the Human Resources director, assess the effectiveness of current

policies, programs and procedures and prepare proposals for new programs to meet

business needs.

• Ensure compliance with relevant employment legislation including employment

standards, human rights and privacy legislation.

• Play a leading role in providing pandemic support, including communication, policy

development and implementing effective change management processes.

• In collaboration with the Human Resources director and the Corporate Services executive

director, evaluate our current organizational design and make recommendations on

organizational structure, succession planning and a talent development strategy.

• Work with the executive and divisional leadership to identify division-specific and

organization-wide strategic learning opportunities.

• Partner with post-secondary institutions to identify and develop programs or curriculum

that will advance the AUC’s mandate to be a best-in-class regulator.

• Foster relationships with post-secondary institutions and the Indigenous community or

friendship centres to promote and attract talent to the organization.

• Oversee the AUC’s total rewards program including the development and maintenance of

a compensation strategy.

• Participate in industry total reward surveys and independently interpret results and

develop and present recommendations on total rewards programs.

• Establish base salaries for new hires and promotions using market data and established

compensation strategy.

• Lead the annual salary review under the direction of the Human Resources director and

the Corporate Services executive director.

• Keep up to date with current developments and trends in all areas of total rewards.
• Develop, maintain and recommend changes to the competency framework to meet the

needs of the organization.

• Lead the annual performance management process, make recommendations for program

changes, and provide training, as necessary.

• Lead the biennial employee survey end-to-end.
• Contribute to thought leadership in the areas of employee wellness, occupational health

and safety programs.

• Prepare and analyze HR reports, workforce analytics and provide information to

leadership.

• Be a role model of the AUC values.

Qualifications

As the ideal candidate you will possess:

• A post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in human resources.
• A minimum of six years of related experience.
• Possession of or working towards a CCP (Certified Compensation Professional)

designation would be an asset.

• Completion of certification in change management or organizational design would be an

asset.

• Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
• Work collaboratively in a small team environment.
• Ability to think outside of the box and thrive on new challenges.
• Strong technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems, preferably

SparkRock 365.
